In a nod to all those of Irish descent, we wanted to pay homage to the Emerald Isle’s famed St. Patrick’s Day celebrations this week by showing our love for all things emerald—kitchens in particular! While the color green in all its shades symbolizes renewal, it’s sometimes a daunting task for a designer to convince their clients to jump on the green bandwagon. But when they do? It pays off in spades.
Take for instance designer to the stars, Martyn Lawrence Bullard’s design of his own Hollywood Home featured on ElleDecor.com. Bullard, who tends to gravitate towards a Morrocan aesthetic, went this route again with a few Midcentury designs peppered in for the renovation of his 1923 Spanish Villa. The Christpher Peacock-designed kitchen serves as one of the home’s most beautiful focal points—despite the designer’s self-proclaimed proclivity towards ordering in rather than cooking. While none of the appliances are showcased in emerald, the kitchen overall reads green. Stools are upholstered in a striking emerald Moore & Giles leather, Moroccan tile in various green colorways from Zellij Gallery forms the backsplash, and the base of a kitchen island and an intricate wood door painted in beautiful shades of green create visual interest. Bullard also included metal accents throughout to form striking points of contrast—much like the hardware pairings we offer with our Emerald finish in our Build Your True collection.
Interior Design magazine picked up on the beauty of emerald-inspired rooms as well, sending out their own homage to the color in a virtual celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. In a feature called “22 Verdant Spaces Enliven and Inspire,” a variety of emerald and green-infused rooms showcase the versatility and finesse the color can offer. From Bullard’s—once again called out for his beautiful use of the emerald green—gorgeous lobby-lounge design for The Prospect Hollywood hotel to Rome-based Coolidanielarchitetto’s ultra-cool VyTA restaurant and cocktail bar design in London’s West End, these exemplary spaces will have emerald skeptics jumping on the emerald bandwagon in no time.
Back to the heart of the home—the kitchen. Our Emerald finish can take center stage, serve as a neutral, or add a pop of color. La Cornue’s Chateau Series of ranges come in both British Racing Green and Teal— a new color from the brand’s Quintessential Colors collaboration with designer Matthew Quinn—and pair perfectly with any of our units outfitted in our Emerald finish. It’s all about personal preference, but as Elle Decor’s feature on “30+ Inspiring Green Kitchens That Are Full of Life,” shows, green kitchens are truly hitting the right note. From the most subtle to the most bold, these designs once again prove just how cool green can be. And if you believe in the luck of the Irish—might as well bring a bit of that Emerald Isle to your own kitchen island. We have quite the wide array of undercounter refrigeration units perfect for kitchen and bar needs of all kinds.
