There are so many elements to consider when renovating a kitchen. One of the most enjoyable? Tiles! Depending on the area or areas in need of a bit of functional tiled eye-candy—from backsplashes to countertops, to wall tiles and floor tiles—choosing the perfect surface material is an exercise in fun when done correctly. While it’s necessary to make sure the kitchen retains its functionality and flow, elevating the aesthetics is always exciting. With nearly limitless options when it comes to materials, size, colors, shapes, styles, and price points, designers certainly have no shortage of choices. To help narrow things down, we are delighted to share a few 2023 trends we saw come out of the world’s preeminent tile and ceramic trade show, Cersaie, which is held annually in Bologna, Italy every September. From rich emerald shades and soft, hygge-inspired tiles, to wood effect, and hyper-realistic designs inspired by nature, there was a plethora of eye-catching new introductions. We’ve highlighted some of our favorite trends below—and of course, paired them with complementary True units to complete the look!

A not-so-surprising returning trend? Hygge-inspired designs. That equals warm tones, swirling veins, and ultra-soft surfaces that inspire serenity. While the pandemic spurred home renovations with an eye towards warm and comforting interiors, the need to create cozy, welcoming spaces has not abated.

In terms of prominent hues, Cersaie saw an influx of emerald, jade, sage, mint, and aloe hues. Greens are back in all forms. Not only does green have a calming effect due to its connection to nature, but the color’s versatility allows designs in shades of green to have both a subtle or a bold presence.

Love the 70s vibe? The decade’s aesthetics were back in full effect. From groovy colors to flower-power patterns (not shown), the look was decidedly funky—in a great way—and soulful.
