We often confine our approach to designing interiors to what we know. But what happens when we think outside the box? Well in some cases, you end up with a clever new design concept that defies convention in the best of ways. That was the case in this modern contemporary residence in Louisiana, where the homeowners’ installed two of our Wine Columns under a staircase and joined them together with our industry exclusive joining kit—to brilliant effect.

The Wine Columns not only draw the eye and create a focal point that balances out the black slat pattern on the staircase wall, but they are situated in the perfect spot for when the homeowners are entertaining, cooking, or serving drinks. With the kitchen to the far left and the opening to the bar to the left along with the comfortable seating area—the design offers function with a stylistic purpose.

Meanwhile, we also fell in love with the notion of one of our Undercounter Beverage Centers in an en-suite bathroom. From holding wine bottles for that ultra-luxurious spa bath pampering session with a glass of wine, to storing towels and various hydration options for an after work-out relaxation ritual—the benefits of a refrigerator in the bath are far undervalued. Love a chilled cold cream? There are so many usage options to explore with this set up. So next time you’re redesigning your home, throw tradition to the wind and think a bit outside the box. Done well, the benefits will far outweigh your fears. Cheers!
