We’re always excited when designers and architects we love use True Residential products in their own home, but we are particularly enthused about architect Carmel Greer’s new ultra-chic D.C. home. Greer not only served as the home’s architect, but took on the duty of interior designer as well—a difficult feat when you consider the amount of weekly site visits required and the challenge of designing for a large family who loves to entertain.

Taking control of the project though, came with its own advantages. Greer was able to make bold design choices and include unexpected elements throughout the home. For instance, the living room is painted in a dazzling Peach Blossom shade from Benjamin Moore—toned down by a sculptural chandelier, textural black artwork, a brown tufted leather sofa, and a pair of handsome, dark green chairs. In her husband’s office, Greer created a show-stopping moment by papering the room in a jungle-like wallpaper. It infuses the space with an intense but peaceful vibe—perfect to get some work done.

Despite these pockets of color and whimsy, Greer describes the home as ‘predominantly white’ in an article with Elle Decor. To create some contrast in the mostly light and airy residence, Greer infused her kitchen (which is obviously, our favorite room in the house!) with some serious drama that doesn’t impede on functionality. Black marble countertops with bold veining create visual interest while tiles on either side of the islands glint with the light. A True Residential matte-black-and-gold 42” Refrigerator fits right into the glamorous design, highlighted by cabinetry in a midnight blue shade, striking black marble backsplashes, and a matte black range. “Initially, I was attracted to the colors and hardware finishes available at True Residential,” says Greer. “But what I have also come to love is the stainless steel interior and the overall practical layout of the shelves and bins.” Since we pride ourselves on offering the utmost in both form and function at True Residential, we’re going to claim success!

Pendant lights arranged in an eye-catching grid illuminate the sun-lit kitchen during the darker hours. Near the expanded line of cabinets and open shelving that lines most of one wall, our Clear Ice Machine also sits pretty. It forms the perfect spot for cocktail prepping before sprinting back outside to the pool area. “We have lots of pool parties in the summer,” says Greer. “I love never running out of ice.” Since our ice machines produce up to 70lbs of ice a day—Greer will enjoy it for many parties to come.
