Lori Paranjape

In 2018, a serendipitous meeting with Lori Paranjape at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show, led to our Emerald Undercounter Refrigerator Drawers taking center stage in a bar designed by the interior designer for a Tennessee spec home renovation. We were already excited for the event that year as we were introducing our new Emerald finish—a rich verdant color known to promote wellbeing, balance, and harmony. And then, much to our happy surprise, designer Lori Paranjape rounded the corner, and the rest, as they say, is design history.

“When I walked around the corner at KBIS and saw the Emerald refrigerators for the first time, I was floored,” says Paranjape. “I shared them on my Instagram and immediately got a message from my clients… they said they HAD to have them and where could they go?” In comes a small room that formerly housed a treadmill, that was also perfectly situated near the dining room. Paranjape immediately turned the room into a chic, design-forward bar with fantastic storage and ample counter space. Custom cabinets were painted black and two sets of our indoor/outdoor Undercounter Refrigerator Drawers were placed side by side, adding a beautiful pop of color against the black in our vibrant emerald finish and brass hardware. A textural grasscloth wallcovering in a bright green and natural colorway adds a tailored appeal and follows the color scheme theme throughout the home. In the living room, a deep emerald green velvet sofa grounds the room while in the kitchen, cabinetry was painted in Benjamin Moore’s Black Fox color.

“The [homeowners] are young and hip and vibrant, and they didn’t want status-quo,” says Paranjape. “They really wanted their house to make a statement.” Keeping this in mind, the designer outfitted the dining room in a striking black grasscloth wallpaper, contrasting the walls with white curtain panels, modern chairs upholstered in a bright white velvet, eye-catching artwork, an oval dining table with beautifully veined light wood, and a custom-made glass-butterfly chandelier. Meanwhile, the entrance foyer’s pink lacquered ceiling begs guests to look up while hand-painted walls by a local graffiti artist add interest. The powder room also caters to the homeowners’ wishes, with a bold curvilinear black-and-white pattern creating a striking point of view. It’s a house with a great deal of personality and bold design choices that stun. We’re ecstatic to be a part of this ultra-cool project—the design of the bar is one we would replicate in our own home!
