As much as we say stay true to yourself, many of the greatest designs and inventions come when a rebellion starts in the kitchen. Whether you are switching up cooks or ripping out the entire kitchen to start clean, we all get to that point where something has to change in order to move forward. Leave all thoughts of the culinary world you knew before behind and let us introduce you to a chef who started a rebellion against one appliance: a microwave.

Chef RossiNew York City-based Chef Rossi might have been ahead of the times when she started thinking about life without the microwave. After all, many households are limiting usage for a variety of reasons, or refraining from it all together. For Rossi (yes she only goes by one name), she has earned a reputation as the one to call when it's time to do something different. Her motto is simple: “Molds are a delicious thing to break!”

In Chef Rossi’s memoir, “The Raging Skillet/The True Life Story of Chef Rossi,” she says growing up, once her mother discovered the microwave, home-cooked meals became a thing of the past. What starts as a rebellion against her Orthodox parents, chauvinism in the kitchen, and the pressures of conformity ends with her becoming New York’s #1 punk-rock caterer.

As the owner and executive chef of The Raging Skillet, a cutting-edge catering company known for breaking any and all rules, Rossi has been called "a new breed of rebel anti-caterer" by The New York Times. The Raging Skillet has been named among The Knot’s Best of Wedding Caterers every single year since 2010, including 2018. Rossi has been a writer for many publications, she hosts her own hit radio show in Cape Cod and has been featured on "The Food Network" and "NPR” and is a popular blogger for “The Huffington Post.”

So what are we trying to say here? Dare to be a rebel, especially in the kitchen!
